2024 Was A High-Flying Year
According to the Department of Defense, there were 757 new reports of unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAPs), also known as UFOs, between May 2023 and June 2024:
- Number of reports: 757 new reports between May 2023 and June 2024, plus 272 reports from 2021 and 2022 that were not previously reported
- Number of unexplained incidents: 21 incidents that remain under investigation
- Number of resolved incidents: 49 incidents that were resolved, such as balloons, birds, and unmanned aerial systems
However, the All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) reviews all UAP reports. AARO has received a total of 1,652 UAP reports as of October 24, 2024.
