Weird Darkness
Descends on KGRA Digital Broadcasting with host Darren Marlar
Ah, there’s nothing like waking up to a fresh cup of hot coffee with a heaping side of horror.
KGRAdb listeners are in store for a special morning drive-time treat as award-winning voice actor Darren Marlar joins the family with his acclaimed podcast Weird Darkness. Joining our airwaves on November 6, Weird Darkness will air each weekday at 10 AM Eastern.
Weird Darkness is hosted by Darren Marlar, the creator of the hugely successful podcast. The award-winning voice actor has brought Weird Darkness to an incredible level, which ranks it higher than the top 1% of podcasts worldwide.
Very few paranormal and horror fans won’t recognize Darren’s distinctive voice, and many of us have now been spotting the “Beast,” commonly called an SUV, but an SUV like no other. Adorned with groping hands, ghostly figures, and flashing lights, the Beast (along with Darren) attends many events around the country.
Marlar has noted he has always had a penchant for the dark and the weird, or at least for as long as he can remember. “The boy comes by it natural, “my old granny used to say.
On a recent episode of NightVision on KGRA, he shared, “Oh, I’ve always kind of been drawn to it. My birthday is the day after Halloween,” and added, “My grandfather’s birthday is actually on Halloween.” So, Halloween was a big deal in the family, and the dark imagery naturally came to represent happiness and happy times to him.
Growing up in Kansas City, he entertained every chance he got at school, church, or anywhere he had an audience. He was a rock singer and a church soloist, always performing and expressing his talents.
All of this led to professional voice acting to lend his voice to television and film and the many awards he has subsequently received for his work.
But Darren couldn’t escape his love for the Darkness, and boy, are we glad! Despite his vast work across genres and media, he is now most recognizable as the host of Weird Darkness.
KGRAdb Executive Producer Bill Skywatcher, who was instrumental in bringing Weird Darkness to our listeners, welcomed Darren and Weird Darkness to the KGRA family, adding, “I know the listeners will enjoy his storytelling content,” but added, “You may want to keep the lights on!”
Indeed.
